What the hay am I doing?
I graduated in December, but there is no commencement in December so I won't look like this until May. But that's cooo. During the fall I did my student teaching in Orange County, NY, where I taught at Maple Hill Elementary School in Middletown for September and October, and at Valley Central Middle School for November and December.
Being a teacher is pretty shnazzy. I had some difficult times at first, but in the end of my student teaching, I definitely realized it's right for me.
During my student teaching I lived in Goshen, a cute town in the OC. I lived with Shaun, a friend from Crane. Living with Shaun was really really awesome. We worked fabulously together. And honestly, I kind of miss it!
I very much miss Crane and Potsdam. I will definitely visit a couple times. But man, I miss not having to worry about crap. It was nice!
So what's next for Jon Ross? Well, I applied for two jobs since I finished student teaching: I interviewed for and was (presumably) rejected for a job at a middle school in Middletown. But that's okay.
My other application is for another middle school job, but this one in Rockland. My interview is Wednesday. WISH ME LUCK!
In the meantime, I am living at home and helping my dad with a project at his office. When it is complete, if I do not have a job in Rockland, I will probably substitute teach.
If I don't get the job in Rockland, I will probably be going to Grad School next year. I am strongly considering going to Ohio State for graduate school. It's cheap to attend, cheap to live, a quick one-year program, and frankly I am sick of being far apart from Rachel. Many pluses to attending!
I know my LJing is unbelievably inconsistent. I'm at about twice a year now. I know probably no one reads it. But for those who do, I thought I'd give you an update. If you'd like to know more... IM me, call me, Facebook me, anything! I'd love to hear from you!
And listen to Fleet Foxes. They are amazing.
