These are 6 songs that i really like for various reasons in no particular order. read it love it.

1. California Stars-Billy Bragg and Wilco-Mermaid Avenue
All songs by Woody Guthry retold. I rediscoverd this album recently and it's got such warm memories. This song isnt neccesarily my favorite on the album cuz i love the whole thing, but i love it none the less. It's one of those repetitive ones that'll lull you to sleep or at least into a better mood...nursery rhyme style bitches. layin on a bed of california stars...ahhh!

2. Blizzard of '77-Nadasurf-Let Go
Nadasurf is badass. this ones all acoustic and believe it or not it's just one (guitar). probably one of the hardest songs i've ever come across to actually play. beautiful song. the dude also wrote for guitar world back when it didn't suck.

3. Cortez the Killer-Neil Young and Crazy Horse-Zuma
Kids smoke weed to this song. It's songs like these that make me love the guitar.

4. A Man/Me/Then Jim-Rilo Kiley-More Adventurous
three short stories in succession about "the slow fade of love" and how that sucks and stuff. sound gay? well it's not. plus i'm a sucker for that far of cry of a sweet sweet pedal steel.

5. Relative Ways-And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead-Source Tags and Codes
This is for all you haters out there. This song knows jeet kun do, tae kwan do, judo, jujitsu, and it will kick the nuts off of your music. Saw these guys back when they were touring this album and wow. everyone that's seen these guys once will remember that show until they die. i remember at one point being on stage and beating this dude in the head then diving off. grand times.

6. Helicopter-M. Ward-Transfiguration of Vincent
I once compared this guy to what John Mayer would be if he wasn't such a suckster. So imagine that. i love it when a musician can take an acoustic guitar and make it more than the sum of it's parts i guess. well here yu go. and great folk style story telling to go.

now six of you have to do this. i think most of you already have though. so if you haven't, you should.
