It's been a while, yet I rarely feel like updating this thing anymore. The best part being that I haven't the time to write an energetic post, rallying the troupes to discuss an evening of debauchery. I'm finally wasting my life working on some semi-productive things as opposed to wasting it, straight up, on the internet. But don't get me wrong, I'm not going to hop on the anti-LJ bandwagon and call out "LiveJournal is for losers! Go out and live your life!!" because at the end of the night, I'm still going to come home, sit down at my computer and hope for an e-mail from whatever boy I'm lovin' on at the time. Thems the breaks, this is it. The internet could quite possibly be the shittiest place to hang out, but I shall forever continue to come back for more.
Some pretty amazing times have come and gone since I've last updated. My favorite being two wonderful amazing people getting married and having the wildest punk rock wedding one could ever hope for!! KC and Crystal Anne Thili-Spidle are now officially Halifax's most endearing rock and roll couple, thus upping the adorableness factor of Dog Day by 50%. Again and again, congrats guys.
They even asked Gilbert Switzer to play!!! Biggest honour of a lifetime, hands down. Be Bad played an amazing set, and actually covered a Dog Day song. Two of my favorite local bands making love.
I also really enjoyed Ressurectum (thrashy crust from NF) who I hope to see again. Another band called Cider Squadron 666 (BEST NAME EVER) played but I can't remember that set at all.
Hmmm, other news... Gilbert Switzer and Be Bad tempted fate and recruited a few friends on the rock-for-dollars phone lines last Monday. The ante had been upped to ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS, a first in RFD history! Long story short, Gilbert Switzer won a thousand fucking bones and we now have most of our gas payed for our first U.S tour.
Hmmm, tour....A month and a half left before I lay to rest the flat-iron, full-length mirrors, and the general concept of eating food and smelling decent.
The gypsy-pirate lifestyle has always been intriguing to me, and I'm interested to see how I fare for three+ weeks. Last summer was only ten days and I went insane. This time will be wilder, this time there is no boy to cuddle, no acting-a-supreme-fool (assuming its easier to get beat up in Brooklyn than say, Kingston Ontario) and a lot less drinking. Ah, the drink. You've got me under your whiskey-soaked thumb. I hate you.
Sometimes becoming so absorbed with what you are doing, creating or wasting/spending time on can be frightening. I feel extremely alienated and disconnected from reality...a lot of my friends and family. I find this year I'm only having "weather is nice, see ya later!" conversations with quite a few people I used to spend lots of time with. It's all my own fault, because I'm a jerk and relatively boring nowadays unless you run into me when I'm wasted. Then I'm just a fucking tool. Lose-lose situation.
Ah, let's see, other news? I'm really excited for Die Brucke to go on tour, those dudes deserve that radical time like crazy. Umm.... Next Monday (or so) I move into the Cornwallis Street Fahey House along with Ms. Jess W. for a four-month subletting extravaganza. Hilarity, let me tell you, will surely ensue. Please come over and hang out with us ok? thanks. Me and B-Wagg will be neighbours and are gonna be BFF's and host the grammies a la spark session on a daily basis.
uhhhhhhhh what else what else oh I've got a possible new band in the works, with Eben on guitar, Brendan on bass and Michel on drums. Colleen B. will join our next practice and I can only imagine this band being skull-crushing and maybe even a little dangerous. Perhaps, if I get over my fear of singing, we could even play a live show!
end boring post.......now? Nope. one thing left. Something we've worked pretty damn hard on, and are really excited to release. Recorded August 2005, released April 2006:
