Say what you will about Catholics, and there are definitely a few things to be said, but you could never call them anti-intellectual -- which is an insult, in case you might have wondered. A Jesuit astronomer in the news:
"Stoeger called the faith of those who believe in the literal account of creation as described in the Book of Genesis as belief based on ignorance.
'Their theology is very primitive and they have no adequate means ... to integrate their (religious) tradition with the real world,' he said."
Scathing.
If only some Catholic social teachings were as integrated with the real world.
