We are getting tracked every which way.
Tell me the government wouldn't like RFID on every bigger bill?
They go semi-randomly coptering over some southwestern country side, and a little trailer down there in the wilderness lights up like a christmas tree, and oh boy, we got something illegal going on.
No warrant, no clarification of what it specifically means, nothing.
But now they know.
Heck, the other criminals are going to need advanced RFID locators too....

I expect the current IR from the copter works just fine. RFID at the register seems just so darned easy that I think it's inevitable.

A pile of bills in a room filled with currency (but not people) would light up on IR identifiably as a stack of bills?

Nope. But other illegal activities do. When it comes to bills, just tracking their movement through registers would give a huge indication as to who's using it how.
