I've been thinking a lot lately about the Richard Nixon entry I promised to make, but seriously, it is too bleak and ugly (and not done yet) so now for something completely different.
Maybe I can bring some of those monopoly 500's on my next trip to Europe and pass them off!
I've seen a few movies/videos where American gangsters are dealing in 500 euro notes. It's a lot more valuable than the American 100, which is the biggest bill we currently print.
I gather we used to make 1000's, and there may still be some circulating in Vegas or somewhere, but we don't print them anymore.
There is a guy in Vegas called the Duke of Fremont Street, very sharp dresser, plays poker a couple times a week, usually at a tiny NL holdem game. He comes in with a briefcase and unpacks his buyin onto the table. Stacks of hundreds, gold coins, and about 20 thousand dollar bills, encased in plastic. Beautiful bill, very artistic. The Duke is just showing off though, he never plays, but I have seen a bunch of thousands before. He doesn't circulate them though. He sits for an hour, only plays AA (if he gets it) otherwise, he repacks everything back into the briefcase and leaves. A dealer asked the table generally why he does this. I think its for the girls, cause the three times I've seen him do it, he gots swarmed by Vegas beauty whenever he walks out of the room.

They're just getting ready, perhaps.
