C-Town, Again

Just got off the blue line about an hour ago -- the Western stop. Easy flight, easy ride here.

Walked down Milwaukee, cut up a few neighborhood roads to Charleston -- one block from Damen. I know the area pretty well now after spending a few weeks here.

The weather is about the same in Austin right now, a nice 50º F. A little overcast. But the breeze is nice, and it feels like autumn here, contrary to Austin. The leaves are a fiery orange, scattered loosly on the trees and heavily lining the streets. It was a quiet time when I arrived, so the streets were quiet and desolate. The atmosphere was perfect.

Angie is taking a bit longer to show up than she expected, so I'm chilling at the Charleston drinking Guiness and coffee with Bushmills. When I walked in, it was quiet, there were maybe three people, and Cat Power was playing on the hifi. It was a perfect moment. The music has also gone between weird experimental jazz and foreign hip-hop. I like it.

It's good to be back.
