as most people who read this are aware, i have sleep apnea and sleep with a mask. This is integral to the 'rest of the story'.
Woke up at 2:45am, with no power. No fans blowing cold air around the room, no mask forcing air into my nose. wouldn't have been sooo bad had i not had to wake up at 4am to get ready for work....
4:30 rolls around, still no power. great. how do i get ready for work? eh, go jump in the pool...
get out, start drying off, see light on in the bathroom.
skip ahead 8 or so hours, hear the reason for the no power was a tree/tree limb fell and took out the power line - lot of good that did.
In the 'good' news, wife is off the crutches. dr wants her to wear nothing that conscrits across the top of her foot (so she's now wearing sandals/flip flops) in an effort to reduce the stress & prevent surgery. am keeping fingers crossed.
I should figure out how to put in a cut, and cut the rest - but honestly don't have the patience for it right now, so if you're not in the mood for a rant, skip the rest of the message....
I get a job I like (mostly, could deal with weekends off, but its retail, what do you expect) and one that I'm good at. However....
there are areas in the store that aren't doing so hot - so mgmt states that as of tuesday there WILL BE staffing movement. (Staffing movements will cause schedules to change and i've already planned my weekend off into oct - weekends offthese will most likely change, and so must my plans - if i stay with the company)
I don't want to move.
So I start looking into ways to stay in the position I'm currently in. And don't find anything.
So, i goto the department of labor and ask about employee rights....
...and get told....
"New York State does not protect employee's rights."
So great.
Grab the lube, 'cause it looks like i've been screwed.
Now why would any company want to take an employee who is successful in their job, is happy with their job, and move them into a position that THEY DO NOT WANT - unless they want that person to leave?
