So last night I braved going out in the rain and saw a play. It's titled Oleanna by David Mamet. It's a two person play and can be pretty intense. The dialogue seems like it would be difficult to memorise. Overall I enjoyed it. The man (ie teacher) performed theater Improv for 15 years. At one point in the play he was playing with a pen as a prop and it flew from his hands and crashed near my feet. There was a second long pause then she (ie the student) asked "Do you want me to get that?" and he replied in the negative and the whole audience laughed. I didn't like the student (I liked the actress who played her btw) and wanted to hiss at her but refrained myself. I can easily picture the secenario in this play occuring in real life and cringe. I would bet that this has happened many times.
synopsis:
Oleanna is about the power struggle between a university professor and one of his female students, who accuses him of sexual exploitation and, by doing so, spoils his chances of being accorded tenure.

Apropos: It's raining again this morning. This city needed it badly.
