Chapter 36

Nov 09, 2013 18:27

They had only been asleep for two hours or so when the baby monitor disturbed their slumber. Jemma wasn’t crying but she was awake, gurgling and making noises to herself. It was just loud enough to wake Emma who hadn’t been used to hearing this from her daughter every morning as Jenny had. The blonde opened her eyes and the events from last night seeped through her tired mind and bought her body up to date with where she was and why she was naked and in Jenny’s bed.

She smiled the biggest smile possible at such an early hour and kissed the half sleeping Jenny on the forehead before getting up and putting on the jeans and shirt she had left from the day before. Barefoot, Emma made her way to the infants room and picked her up gently from the crib.

“Let’s make your mummy some breakfast shall we?”

She made some toast and a cup of coffee and was about to go wake her sleeping beauty when she heard the letterbox go.

“Ah ha. Some mail for mummy too. Shall we go and see?” Jemma looked blankly at her but it didn’t matter to Emma. She was enjoying just being able to ramble on to her daughter first thing in the morning and not have to worry about handing her back to somebody in the afternoon - she had her family back at last.

It wasn’t in fact the mail that had clattered through the door but the paper. Emma scooped the neatly folded newspaper off the floor and tucked it under her arm and made her way into Jenny.

Jenny was propped up in the bed still trying to bring her mind around to it being morning and bring her body around to the fact that the night before it had been to heaven and back for the first time in months.

“Hey you” she said as Emma walked in with Jemma in one arm and the paper in the other.

“Its your two favourite ladies in the whole world. Aren’t you lucky?” Emma said smiling sweetly at Jenny.

“And how modest they are too” Jenny laughed.

Emma passed Jemma over to Jenny and sat down next to her on the bed, she put her feet up and opened the paper.

WHO IS CURING NATALIE’S LOVE SICKNESS?

England’s hottest star Natalie Smith has certainly settled into German life quickly. The gorgeous actress was snapped on the red carpet of the latest awards ceremony in Cologne with a mystery woman on her arm. The out and proud Natalie had been linked to a string of women in the past year from England’s football captain Casey Stoney to Waterloo Road’s Heather Peace. However it seems as though none of them could compete with the cute blonde who accompanied her last night.

“What is this rubbish?” Emma said as she saw the big photograph of herself with Natalie from the previous evening.

Jenny looked uncomfortable. “Ah yeah, mum mentioned that last night…..”

“Well I’m going to call the paper and put them straight on the matter.” Emma said getting her mobile phone out of her pocket.

Just at that moment Natalie called.

“Good morning Muller! I don’t suppose you’ve seen the front of the paper have you?” she said with excited glee.

“Yes I have...I think it is the most…”

Natalie cut her off. “Exciting thing ever?! Yes I know. This story is going to be SO good for my career. They will all be talking about it today. My mystery woman. This could be just what I need to be big over here”

“Natalie you do realise we can’t go on being seen together - people will think we are an item”

“Emma put Jen on the phone”

Emma was a bit annoyed but passed the mobile over to the stunningly beautiful brunette.

“Hi Nat”

Emma took Jemma back and got up to look out of the window with her. It was beautiful. The city was simply beautiful and Emma couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. She had grown up here and she would raise her child here and that felt pretty special to her.

Jenny hung up the telephone and looked at Emma, instantly Emma knew all was not well.

“She would like you to go out with her two more times and then she says she’ll just deny the whole thing but for now she wants people to think something is going on”

“What? and you are OK with this?”

“Well yes….no...I don’t know. It might give me time to come round to telling my parents that we are back together and it would be really good for Nat.”

“Are you ashamed of me or something?” Emma snapped a little. The weeks of pretending were already getting to her and the prospect of having to pretend she was dating Natalie was not something she was looking forward to.

“Look I just need time Emma. I have been used to being me for over a year now. I created a new life here, different relationships with my parents and yours and I just need time to figure out how all of that is going to work now we are back together”

Emma took a deep breath. Jenny was right. She had changed their lives and it was selfish of her to want everything just to slot into place.

“I don’t want to fight” she said sitting back down with Jemma leaning into her shoulder.

Jenny leant forward and kissed Emma. “Last night was perfect by the way” she said before kissing her again. It would have led to more if their daughter hadn’t have been in the room so Emma broke off and invited Jenny to get changed and have the breakfast that was probably now stone cold.

As they made their way to the kitchen Emma’s phone vibrated in her pocket. She took it out and saw the message notification on the screen.

From: Kate

Message: ‘We need to talk.’

Emma unlocked the phone and deleted the message.

Jenny turned around “Who was that?”

“Just Luzi. I’ll text back later”
