YES!! EXACTLY!

More people need to speak up like this. My husband did at his work and got the same reaction. i wonder when things going nuts around us (including extreme weather and and the poisoning of water tables from fracking, etc.) reach a point people realize we can't keep going on as before?

Many investment companies will add socially-conscious funds to the list of choices if an client organization requests them. For example, I've worked for non-profits who used TIAA-CREF and Fidelity, and those companies added Domini and Walden funds by request. Those options were very popular with my co-workers. Keep advocating within your org. to push the request up the line.

Meanwhile, you can also work from the inside through shareholder activism. You and your organization can lobby your investment company to vote ethically on shareholder resolutions at the various companies they invest in. For example, if JPMorgan Chase has a resolution on its annual ballot to reform foreclosure practices or to go carbon-neutral, your investment company can be urged to vote for it -- but only if they actually hold shares. This is why strategic progressive shareholders will sometimes stay minimally invested in a few bad companies.

Good luck!
