So, The Rite of Sol has closed. It's always a little rough returning to the office after a theater run. And this run went very well, which makes coming back similar to awakening from a beautiful dream and finding yourself in a particularly dull corner of the "real" world.
Because, honestly, I love doing music and theater, and if I could make even a meager living doing theater, I would gladly simplify my life and do exactly that. Sure I would not have much in the way of a retirement, but I don't have that now... and doing something I dearly love would increase the quality of my life in ways that money can't compare to.
Anyway, I returned to the office and they've shut off streaming and blocked Facebook.
Now, mind you... I am salary. I like The Daily Show over lunch. I stream music while I do paperwork, spreadsheet updates and data entry. When someone is 20 minutes late for an appointment and I am sitting at my desk waiting for them to arrive, looking at Facebook has been my brain candy. Hell, I could even watch instructional videos that our upper management recommends... but other upper managers have decided that we shouldn't stream audio or video.
I guess I could watch those recommended instructional videos at home... but I have a better idea.
I've been updating my LinkedIn profile and job hunting.
I don't mean to sound ungrateful. The economy has been in a bad place and I was certainly not well qualified, coming out of 7 years in construction when I was hired here. But it's been 5 years, no raise last year, no raise this year, and a great deal of job related stress.
I am ready to move on to something else.
But look at the bright side... I'm posting to LiveJournal again.
