I took Meggan to Immortals this weekend. I must advise, do not see this movie if you have seen Captain America within any point in the last several weeks. SPOILERS follow.
Immortals: The hero was given every privilege regarding training as a fighter growing up.
Captain America: The hero grew up knowing nothing about fighting beyond how to take a punch.
Immortals: The hero was destined to glory as a child and favored of a god.
Captain America: The hero was a poor kid from Brooklyn.
Immortals: The hero had to be convinced to take the fight to the the enemy.
Captain America: The hero wanted to fight the enemy no matter the odds against him.
Immortals: An oracle led the hero to his greatest weapon, which he promptly lost.
Captain America: Found and claimed his own weapon, which he valued greatly.
Immortals: Early on, hero by circumstance came to lead a female oracle, a mute monk, and a thief.
Captain America: Early on, hero led a full company of liberated combat veterans who admired his heroism.
Immortals: Hero was loved by a beautiful woman despite having yet accomplished nothing.
Captain America: Hero was loved by a beautiful woman for demonstrating creativity and exceptional courage.
Immortals: Gods intervened directly to save the hero's life on multiple occasions for their own self-interest and for no clearly justified love of the hero.
Captain America: Humans saved the hero's life out of appreciation for his heroism and accomplishments.
Immortals: Won in the end by resorting to tricking a middle-aged opponent while in the process of losing a contest of personal combat.
Captain America: Won in the end by committing an act of incredible personal sacrifice in order to defeat an evil genius.
