The acting in Match Point is, for lack of a better word, on point. Scarlett Johansson is quickly showing herself to be an actress of some skill. The real surprise here is the male lead, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers. This relative newcomer (his only other major role was in Bend It Like Beckham) has proven that he is ready for a big-time role. His acting in this very pivotal role is a pleasure to see. He is not a good guy at all, yet through the whole movie we are rooting for him to succeed. He plays an anti-hero perfectly.
I've been making thirty movies in ten years now. I'm hardly a newcomer.
Orlando Bloom, Dominic Monaghan... they are fucking babies compared to me and nobody calls them a 'newcomer'.
...at least they didn't say I'm British.
I think I should sleep more.
