Middle of the night musing in the middle of the day
Not to point a finger, but I'm just reading Ken Tucker over at EW on Leno and O'Brien and all that. He's one of many people who mention Craig Ferguson as being heir apparent to Letterman's slot.
I'm a huge CF fan, but I can't imagine for a moment that his show and his sensibility would work at 11:30. (Much the same as I never believed Conan could assimilate into the mainstreamness of The Tonight Show.)
So what's the assumption here? Ferguson will someday neuter himself and take over The Late Show? Why would anyone think this can or should happen?
