I love this little person inside of me, as much as one can love a person you have never met. But it has been very hard to have my fit and toned body taken over since pregnancy. My thighs and tushie are getting that lovely dimpled cottage cheese look. Even my once hot calves are starting to look a little sausage like. Since this is a family show, I won't go into detail about other places that have changed, some for the better.
And the thing that I can't seem to get over this weekend is that at my current state I AM ONLY HALF-BAKED!!!
Needless to say, I have come to rueful grips with the fact my body does not currently and will not be looking like this come July: (me at my skinniest and most in shape - during the triathlon July 2008)
My little baby bump has seemingly popped out like a turkey's pop-up timer in the last 2 weeks. There is absolutely NO denying the fact that I am going to have a baby, from an outsiders perspective. Patients at my office are finally courageous enough to ask: "So when are you due?"
It's kinda funny actually. This picture was taken last week @ 19 weeks pregnant:
Of course, it's not all doom and gloom. I feel wonderful, have plenty of energy and have a very generous budget for maternity clothes. Yesterday my friend Rosanna and I found some good stuff at two different maternity consignment shops in the Twin Cities, and I snagged some more stuff at Target. The tough part is finding bottoms that will stay up and not pinch the growing tummy. But it's kind of a fun challenge.
And I am ever so grateful that everything is going smoothly and that the baby is growing healthy and strong as far as we can tell. Stay tuned...this week is the big reveal! (Well, that is, if Baby KJ McBaberson decides to cooperate and show their stuff.)
We're excited to find out if I'm carrying Jack or Lydia and then I guess the mayhem can begin as far as picking out stuff.
I must slso confess that I am not super thrilled about picking out baby gear. Stepping foot into a Babies R' Us will be quite the feat of willpower. GASP. I know - how horrible of me. Thankfully, I have many friends and other pregnant women who have gone before that will help me make decisions about what stroller/carseat/baby carrier/etc. this little person shall require. Of course, the one stroller I am most interested in at the moment is over $200. lol. What can I say? I have good taste.
well - I must go tend to breakfast and getting myself ready for church. Y'all have a lovely day worshipping the Lord and spending time with family! I'll go tell Kyle all my freak-outs about becoming a mother.
