Random Crap

Dec 10, 2005 22:10

My 6 yo had another epileptic fit today and this time it lasted 24 minutes. And we were in the car visiting an older daughter in another town. And as I pulled over, unsafely, to the side of the road, the annual Christmas bikie-athon came past - hundreds of huge, hairy bikers roaring past and beeping us. And I didn't have a clue where we were to call an ambulance, but eventually, with the map and a local yokel, I figured it out and called as she thumped around in the back seat. And I'm not sleeping so well, so i'm tired and weary and too jittery to sleep anyway. But, with the amazing energy of youth, she's fine ("I'm perfectly fine please thankyou Daddy." She always says please thankyou.) and dandy. Her mum and I are the messes. I called older daughter and she called Mum, who grabbed a taxi and rushed to the children's hospital in Perth, not realising that we were in Mandurah. Ah me.

In other news, and somewhat on topic for my previous masturbation posts, I'm told that the marketeers for Harry Potter, produced a replica of the famous HP Firebolt flying broom. To add realism, it included a vibrator function. After a number of parents complained that it may have been a little TOO popular, it was removed from sale. I'm assured this is true, although I don't read the gossip news much. This just cracked me up. Best Christmas present eva. Salem all over again.

Now the goddam cat is walking over the keyboard. It's a cry for attention or a death wish - maybe both. Now she's gone over to scratch up a good chair and stare at me truculently - geez, I have enough kids already.

And for mellodramamama, I've burnt my music and am searching for the creativity muse. I may find her tomorrow.

And in a tiny victory, the federal Govt has failed to win enough support to pass the smallest of their new bunch of evil legislation - uni student unions, for the time being, will be able to continue offering vital services to needy students. But ghastly Industrial Relations legislation and even worse anti-terrorism laws have been rammed through Parliament with virtually no examination. There was enough stink about the Sedition sections, that the AG has promised an immediate review, BUT STILL PUSHED THE BILL THROUGH ANYWAY. How fucked is that? Scary scary. And they've played the fear card so adroitly and so thoroughly these last few years, that it will take years to undo the cultural damage. And the Opposition are a complete buch of wimps and wankers (I mean that in a bad way).

There is not music loud enough for me at the moment.
