If you figure out anything about the communication, I'd be interested. Heard these things aren't exactly safe.

It's definitely not. Even if there was a way to securely talk through the journals I still wouldn't trust it. [He's confident he can filter from other citizens maybe but not the Malnosso.]

I guess I'll start using can and string as a temporary sollution. [A little dry humor there. Comes with the territory when you're tired as hell.]

Better than smoke signals. [Hey man, dry humor is always called for.]

Heh. You got a point. Maybe once I get this place more figured out I'll try to come up with a sollution that's a little more private.

Uh. I'm Bruce by the way. Bruce... Smith.

[Hey there, hesitation.] Smith, huh? Good to meet you. I'm Hellboy.

Here's hoping none of us'll be here long enough to need it.

[Hellboy...? Huh that's a strange name.]

Nice to meet you.

I hope not either but the barrier is uh. Pretty tough. It's hard to figure out the science behind it.

Yeah, I'm in the process of looking at it now. Not even a chip. Even goes down to the bottom of the ocean.

To be honest, I don't even think the barrier is a dome. Someone would've dug their way out by now.

I think it's more like a sphere. Covering all angles and ways of escape.

Probably.

So why the question about genetics?

Well back home I'm a scientist.

Curiosity's kind of part of the job...

Huh. Guess so.

[He doesn't like scientists much. At least not the kind that go too far and don't know when to stop.]

Guess I can say I'm familiar. I've seen it enough. Just can't say I know much about it.

Well I doubt most people know much about it anyway... or at least not specific details.

I guess it would be too much of a coincidence that your world would have superheroes too huh?

Heroes? [Oh man. He loves heroes] Sure. The Torch of Liberty, Commander Freedom, Lobster Johnson... Used to read their comic books as a kid, and the Commander was an old friend of mine. But they're just regular guys getting the job done where the government would draw the line. If you're talking about wild talents, that's more BPRD material.

Wait, so you're saying these were just regular people trying to make a difference?

[Because that's... really inspirational actually. Even the superheroes in his world have some kind of advanced technology to aid them.]

Yep.

[They're the kind of people who inspired him to try to make a difference himself. Along with his father, they were his idols. Still are, in some respect.]

That's pretty... inspirational.

Most heroes in my world have powers or highly advanced technology to assist them. I don't think I've ever heard of a superhero just being... normal.
