OH, SYDNEY!

Feb 01, 2009 02:20

This may perhaps be one of or perhaps my actual final entry from Sydney. I said goodbye to all my friends today, though I have told them I will be back soon (promises, etc.). They hosted a fancy tea party in my honour - with cupcakes, actual tea, lemonade and flowers. They insisted on surprising me by bringing me through the house blindfolded whilst singing the theme from Indiana Jones and holding onto my arms so I couldn't actually feel my way around but stumble around drunkenly instead. They then revealed a set table full of pinkish splendour surrounded by the friends who had kept me sane and on my feet for years. I have the best friends ever.

Afterwards there was coffee and nachos and pancakes in Parramatta - though not specifically in that order. We then retreated to a friends house where I discovered the AMAZINGNESS of guitar hero rock band. I have become obsessed with the drums. And I kept thinking...'maybe, if I practiced a little...

But tomorrow I depart!

I have of course chosen the best time to settle in Melbourne - when it is on fire, in the grip of a merciless heat wave, and half the city is missing its power. It'll feel just like home!

I will be spending the day there with my parents, and I hope I can show them a little of Melbourne. My mother wants to check out my quarters, and be sure perhaps that there are no serial killers hiding under my bed.

My favourite conversation of the night:

Me: Oh, I really wanted to watch Valkyrie with you! Who will hold me now when the giant head of Tom Cruise starts to frighten me?
Michy: Maybe you can watch it at the same time, only in different states, and it'll be like watching it in the same room!
Jess: Do they have the same time in Melbourne? Is it the same as Syd?
Me: OOooooh I hope so! This is so confusing!
Jess: Yeah, what with the time and Valkyrie problems, maybe you should just stay in Sydney and...work in Target or something.
Me: But then I won't get to feel up old and ancient things! That's all I really wanna do!
Jess: Just go work in an old peoples' home, you can do that there.
Me: *emanates sense of horror and distress*

Seriously. Excellent friends.
