after some busy weeks my update.
i promised Suilven to share a little bit about my life up till now.
I was born in Enschede december 1959 , went to school and had plans to study music, but at the age of 15 my dad died unexpectedly.
So i decided to work and study at a hospital nearby and become a nurse.
I loved the job and after I became a lisenced nurse I studied for ICU- nurse.
At the age of 24 I started missing the music in my life and i got a part time job singing in an professional choir.
But after 2 years they trew out all singers without a degree( is that good english) so i decided to go to "college" ( school of music how do you call it in english) and get a degree in singing.
To accomplish that, I relocated with my partner to Rotterdam where i was able to finance my study by working nightshifts at an Neurological-ICU at an academic hospital, one of the largest in Holland.
I did that for 5 years and gradually took on more work as a singer and less as a nurse.
In 1997 I finally stopped working at the hospital and after that it was all music, music music!!!
My partner and I we have one daughter, a son in law and little kailah whom you all have "met" in pictures. she ( Karen) is not our "own" we took her in after her parents weren't able to take care of her. But we love her to pieces and are very proud of her, i can't imagine being more proud if she was my own, well she is my own, that is how it feels.
i have my own theatre company now, work parttime as a music- teacher, teach music in grade 7-8 and work at a school for music where \i teach singing.
i love my life, doing a lot of different things makes my life really fun. i just woudl like to have a few hours more in a day to appriciate it even more. LOL
I still miss my work at the hospital but i had to make a choice. Not only beacuse of the time factor but both jobs ask a lot of your emotions and it was very hard to do both and not get exhausted.....
So sometimes i can long for the action of an ICU, the families you help, the things you do there, the way you work with patients, but I wouldn't want to miss the work with teenagers, exposing them to music they will never listen on their own, the way you can be a part of their education, or does that sound silly???
I became a lifetime RL fan after seeing the Outsiders, loved The Stand, was/ am a huge Sam Seaborn fan and had the privilege to meet him and the boys in London in 2005. It will be something i won't forget easily.... off course it was a very brief encounter but still.... a great one!!!
well this is my life in a few minutes..
see Suil i kept my promise, Ok a little bit later then promised but i did keep it...LOL
