After laying awake all night worrying about the kittens in the alley, I took Mama and babies to Animal Friends!
This is mama and Dirk, the most confident, bad-ass kitten.
This is Dewey. Or Daffodil. I can only tell them apart when I'm looking at their tiny crotches.
I named the mama "Denise," in memory of my dear friend Denise who bravely fought cancer. This poor, skinny girl was super sweet and wise beyond her years.
Sadly, tonight we could only find four of the kittens. I carried three in one carrier. Mama nursed the fourth baby in this carrier while we drove out to Animal Friends.
This is Dot, Daffodil and Dirk arriving.
Dewey. Or, you know, Daffodil.
Daffodil?
Family portrait! This was how I left them, happily purring and making sucking noises. I hope they get good homes. Denise especially--what a good mom!
And this is my spoiled sister. She has no idea what happened tonight and turned up her nose at chicken. Apparently Queen Firefly requires air conditioning, but she ain't gonna get it here.
That's it! I had a lousy day at work, so I'm really glad Denise reminded me why I do what I do.
