It is time to fulfil a need to explain to myself why my chances to be born were a few ;>. During the WW-II my second grandpa (hoping the attribute “second”’ be appropriate) worked at a train, that carried injured soldiers. They were bombed; he got a shell shock and metal rests over in his back. Not all of them were taken out. Some grew into flesh. When we visited him he showed us those small hills on his back and neck, let us touch them and get hypnothized. He was very proud of them, more than of his medals; those “hills” on the body were sort of a “proof” of something important to him. // Unlike
my other grand*, who was a highly qualified engineer, this grand* was a very simple man - 7 years of a high school elementary+middle (secondary comprehensive) school. But he was a good carpenter, built his own house himself 1945. Once a tornado occurred in that small town (a seldom natural phenomenon in the middle Russia). The grand’s house was the only one on the tornado’s way, which survived, only the upper part sunk to a side a bit. But there was one more peculiarity about that man, where, I believe, the story of “jolies_fanclub” began - he liked music very much. So much that he bought a piano, a beautiful black German piano, he probably thought it for his kid. Although he couldn’t play it at all, what he did - he set in front of it and … played it with both hands, slowly, quietly, making nothing but chaotic noise indeed! I could watch him, the 70 years old man improvising… The story ends up soon. You might ask why the heck I embedded the Moonlight Sonata here…
These grandparents tried to give live to 9 kids, but they had Rhesus incompatibility and at that time it was a crucial factor. 6 Kids were either born dead or died right after birth. One kid died at the age of 5. Only two survived, their immune system was strong, they were physically robust. One of them became a parent of mine. So when we visited the grandparents, the parent of mine always played the Moonlight Sonata on that black German piano. That’s it. // By the time they were gone the house was in a poor condition. Besides it was robbed, every single piece of furniture was stolen, and nothing was left in there. The house + 2 bottles of vodka were sold for a price of a second hand car + a promise that the new owner allows us to stay there for a week or so in case we drop by. The option was used once.
