So guess what! The other day, there was a massive fire at the end of my street. They had a section of the highway blocked off and people had to go around the long way, so I couldn't see what was burning. All I could see was a huge cloud of smoke, too thick to see anything but the flashing lights. It was crazy. And our power went out! The fire apparently burned down not only the power lines right above it, but also the ones across the street from it.
I found out what burned down - the beachwear store that's been there for AGES. When I was a small child, the edges of the attainable world were the Kangaroo gas station four streets down, the Painter's Ice Cream next to that, the Pacific beachwear store connected to the ice cream store, and a Szechaun Palace Chinese restaurant at the end of my street. Last year (two years ago?) they tore down the Szechaun palace, and now the beachwear store AND the ice cream place have burned down. They might fix up the ice cream place, but the beachwear store is obliterated.
This used to be a wall.
This was foam on the ground! :D
A pile of rubble. Ooooh. Aaaahh. It was nighttime, and my camera is not that awesome.
A car that was unlucky enough to be parked here.
The former beachwear store's sign. I was apparently heartbroken by its destruction, 'cause I took like, fifty six pictures of it. >_>
Some more rubble.
Ice cream parlour.
Side of the store, the only wall left standing.
Some burned stuff. :D
'Twas a bad day to park your car near this beachwear store.
I VERY MUCH WANT TO STEAL THESE. When bike week is over and all the police are gone, I'm totally going to steal these. Maybe when Bridget comes home? If they're still there....
Pretty sure this was a boat.
This came from some local news's website. That's the ice cream parlour - it was a family owned business that's been here for 19 years. Basically my whole life.
That's a nice picture, I think.
A better look at the other van that was destroyed.
I don't know what this was, but I know what it's going to be now - a souvenir of that one time the beachwear store burned down, you guys remember?
Also a really cool picture. This is the wall that separated the beachwear store from the ice cream shop. It's neat lookin'.
Speaking of taking pictures, I want to do that thing where I take pictures of my life. I know you guys care A LOT, so I'm also going to do that thing where you can tell me what to take pictures of! Those are always fun.
I got paid today, and it was a pretty decent check... but I got another speeding ticket two nights ago, so that sucks. Why do I suck so hard? I am such a failure. I haven't been eating well, and I've been drinking soda, and I'm being mean and crazy again.... bah. I bought season 2 of That 70's Show 'cause I'm addicted to TV on DVD, and they didn't have HIMYM yet... and I thought it would make me feel happy, but it just made me feel bad for spending the money and watching TV in the first place.
I really need to get on the job hunt thing. Tonight I decided that I can handle BEING a waitress, I just don't want to handle all the pressure of big groups and lots of tables and stuff. I need to work in a tiny restaurant, or suck it up and try my best. First I've got to find a place that will allow my dreads, tattoos, and lip ring. Maybe I'll try some of the places at Broadway, and I'll hit up Hard Rock again. I dunno.
My life is boring. I'm sorry. I'm emo tonight.
