The Set Up.
As I get older I notice the "setup" in politics. I watched the whole speech last night. I pay attention. Why did our President choose 8pm instead of 7pm? Because people who voted for him had other things to watch. What did those people do---they watched the first 10 minutes where he blamed Republicans for holding up the process (which made no sense by the way because it is his OWN DAMN people who are thwarting health care) then went on to say how we should not play party politics. Which irritates me because if you don't want to play party politics you don't start your speech with blaming the other guy. ANYWAY that is not the set up. So most of the people who voted for him say to themselves "oh it's the republicans again" and change the channel. Still not the setup. THE SETUP...Was the speech. If you listened closely to it you could tell that he was covering his ass because he KNEW that this is going to take a while. Finally maybe he got it through his thick skull that the bill really needs to be thought through and done right. OR maybe we could continue with the setup and KNOW that he knew this all along but wants to retain his Oracle status by telling people that he is trying to save their lives...NO SERIOUSLY he implied that last night several times. At about 28 minutes-almost the halfway point---mind you he spent 11 minutes blaming republicans mind you. I looked at Chris and said "he is setting it up for the end of the speech which will be---"it is ok that it is not going to get done before August" Well the end of the speech came and that did not happen. Then the questions came and DAMN is he long winded. So here was the hour of wasted time? I knew in my gut that- he was saying it is going to take longer without directly saying it..BUT he never directly said it. I WAS ANNOYED. I was going to give him credit if he walked out there without blaming Republicans and said "it is going to take longer because I want the committees to do it right" BUT NO he just went on and on and on....about pretty much what we knew already..except for that 3 minutes where he said "before the year is over." THAT there is when I said to Chris- "there is the setup for it to not get done---this is a cover my as speech" But remember I told you that it did not end that way. Drum Roll Please:

I don't even give points for tact. I now know the dance. It's not the first time In have gone to the ball. Seriously-missed a step there...Why I simply do not respect him. Instead of giving the COVERING MY ASS SPEECH--how about just saying what your really planning to do.....No really. And people this is not a tv show. It's not like he met with some adviser last night that said---your speech sucked people are angry sir-you need to call the media and tell them it's ok. *shakes head...We are not the West Wing and this is not Martin Sheen.
