The world has not always been this way. Long before you, long before the mastadons, before even the dinosaurs, there have been other great races that have walked this world unopposed as the alpha hunters of their epochs. from a time before light, shape or form. A time so distant and alien that the very nature of any being from there would seem to you like… magic. Maybe such creatures were wise enough to see their time coming to an end and decided to change rather than become extinct. Maybe they adopted the form of the new masters of the world. At first to hold onto the fading glory of being the pinnacle of creation. But later, with age and wisdom, realizing that mastery of the world is too mercurial to pursue more than once. Planet wide population is a game for young races, I imagine.
But when the end time of those new masters eventurally approached, these old beings probably recognized it, having gone through it themselves. What would such creatures do this time? I think they would have chosen a new, up and coming species and became like. To hide once again among those that would be masters of the world. It worked for them before. Perhaps they even helped their choice assume mastery of the world. The dinosaurs. The mastadons. Maybe others in between. Silently moving down through the endless ages, hiding among whoever foolishly believed they were the lords of the planet. Yes. If such a creature existed I believe that is how they would survive.
But now here we are. In the age of man. The age of reason where we know such fantastic entities are impossible. Anyone believing in these things would obviously be insane. It is best then that we not speak of this idiotic theory of mine again. EVER again.
My stay here will not be long, as you reckon time. Still, I will require my privacy. A certain degree of peace. I put this upon you. No man condemned to this place will speak to me or disturb my actions in any way. If anyone does, regardless of who, how or why, I will hold YOU responsible. And the consequences will be... memorable. For those that find your remains.
