So suzll told me to check out the sci fi writer N.K. Jemisin, so I Googled her and found one of her short stories online. Do yourself a favor and read The Effluent Engine. It's a steampunk alternate history set in New Orleans, with action, science, and lesbian romance. Then, like me, you will want to go out and find everything else she's written.
