The words, falling from your lips, are so cold you don't want to believe they are really yours. They are. And they are not. It is your voice that speaks, but it is Brian who puts the cold, hurting words into your mouth.
You stare at the face of the boy in front of you and you know that the expression, painted in his eyes, only mirrors your own. Not now. Your eyes are cold like the winter sky and your face is hard now, but you remember the night when Brian pushed you away. You remember that well and you can still recall the pain.
Then why did you do this? Why did you act like the one you love and hate at the same time? Why did you hurt this boy, take away his dreams and naivety? Why did you hurt Brian by breaking the rules you've made yourself? Why did you hurt yourself by becoming someone you didn't want to love?
You see the tears glistening in the boy's eyes, and then watch him running away. Chill ghosts over your back suddenly and you wonder where the innocent boy you used to know, and be, has disappeared.
