DES MOTS
hey kids. missed me yonder? probably not. i haven't, well, missed posting.
i have an interview at Borders this coming tuesday, i'm excited. hopeful. i got asked about preference of position so hopefully i'll be able to work on the floor with the books, customers, and information booth stuff. i hope it goes well. i took some initiative and called at the end of my 2 week expected waiting time. i'm guessing that because i decided to find out who the hiring manager was and harass him for 2 days - that's why my interview got brought up to the top of the list. despite mr. hiring manager having a back log of applications right now, so i stood out! as that hyper girl who wants a job! or something?

this past sunday i met up with isabel/ceryndipity and her oberlin-friend who looks like kate moss gone boho (as they're calling it these days), and we wandered Adam's Morgan (Madam's Organ) and Woodley Park, DC. it was a gorgeous sunny summer day. we went to an African bazaar shop, got hollered at, "my lord i haven't seen anything like that since 1971!" (hee), looked down from above bridges, and climbed below one and as isabel put it, "we found a hidden FERNGULLY underneath DC!"

isabel + vanessa + bridge = oberlin kids...above.

and hippies below!
bridges! we climbed this ridiculously steep, cattle-like foot-trodden path down behind some residential apt's that i noticed, and down a couple 100 feet below to this bridge's ravine and underside where there were some abandoned pseudo-shelters made by the homeless near the girders. and it was magical. these things -only- happen when i go exploring & adventuring with isabel...wow. surreal the wilds that exists tucked away under DC.

and the other day i grew a tail.

in unrelated news, my cat kneaded my bed for me. how kind. she's ridiculous(ly cute).

these bizarre light patterns that were on my parents' room's ceiling one day. my mom woke up from a nap and called me in, so we lay on our backs staring at this light refraction evolve and move and glow for at least half an hour. it looked like everything from birds to underwater creatures to angles at some points...magic.

a picture i sent allie in a care package. tis me summer 2002! vintage summer jojo for y'all...
lately i've been having awesome amazing reconnective IM-ing sessions & phoneo with miss allimart & lux and it has been splendid.

>> et des autres mots

last night i had dinner (thai) and couchtime (the muppets take manhattan!) with none other than the social activist mister hisself, meandthemajor who's in DC this summer. apparently isabel even passed us when we were driving around Bethesda and recognized me (how many dready drivers of blue volvo wagons can there be in one city anyhoo?), and her mother said something like, "oh, and she's with a boy." haha. oh, jooosh! getting me a reputation as...chauffeur of...boys. *gasp* and tonight - i just got back from an evening of more adventures with miss isaboo. we had 'creative time', listened to some classic high schoo' tunes, and ate and wandered about Bethesda.

i got a sexy shiny new non-provisional license. i should be able to buy some celebratory champagne come october with it, as it says 21 ON -- in huge red letters. i -still- have to get a new one within 2 months of my 21st but at least i'm not driving around with a horrid side-mugshot of me in dready pigtails from 2 years ago. almost 3. in other news - my current driving revelations include a deep loathing for left hand turns and my mother's car in the rain. period. *shudder* but i'm learning stick tomorrow with the pop, so soon the Eloise-mobile shall be mine! cd stereo! it will be a new era of driving for me. i'll have to move on from my care bears bag of tapes to my rainbow brite lunchbox i've been saving to carry CD's! so mature i am, non?

pictures, adventures
