There are Basara icons in this world ;A;? *weeps* I especially love your Category set and your AC set, the colours are very bold and eyecatching :D Your icons are very expressive, it makes me wanna reread the manga just looking at these. *sigh* They were such a wonderful OTP.

Congrats on finishing :3 I'm happy that you were able to complete your claim. Thanks for participating in our challenge.

Also, because you asked for crits: I think overall your composition and colouring are fine, but your typography needs a bit more work (whose doesn't, text = the bane of most icon makers). I would suggest that stroking the text to make it stand out more clashes too much with the icons, and the text won't be able to blend in as well. Try bringing out your text in a different way; I usually use an outer glow in my text (for lighter icons), the colour of the glow usually the dominant colour of the icon. Otherwise, you can always try a subtle drop shadow on the text (1 px for everything on the setting) and adjust the colouring accordingly. Also, a swipe with a soft brush behind the text does wonder to make it stand out; you can then blur this area accordingly to make the text stand out more.

tl;dr this is how I get when people ask for tips *shamefaced*

Thank you so much for that crit and for the compliments. I knew you loved this couple so I was patiently waiting to see what you thought. It is easy for people who don't know much about the series to say they are great but I always feel a bit closer to icons when I actually know the series.

Typography is the bane of my existence. I usually try to stay away from stroking things but for some reason I went back to it with this. I sometimes carry over my habits from scanlating to icon making and I'm trying to break that habit. (I'm actually a chicken and just don't use text when I can get away with it. ^_^;; )

I think my main problem is that I need to find more fonts that are suited for icon making instead of SFX. XD I'm getting better at it. I did hate the text on my humor one but I got so sick of looking at it that I just submitted it.

I will definitely try out some of the methods you gave me for bringing out the text on my next icons. Thanks again for letting me know what you think. I love getting crit even if it is harsh because it has made me better at iconing. So never worry you ramble too much with me. :)

Hehe, no worries I understood you XD♥ And dw text is the ruiner of my life as well, I have a couple of fonts that I like using (century gothic, nyala, georgia and roadway) and I tend to stick to those. Unconventional fonts like the ones used for scanlation SFX tends to work better in bigger graphics, but usually looks cluttered on a 100x100 icon.

I totes get what you mean about the habits from scanlating though, I used to do some editing for a couple of scanlation group as well and my font folder used to ALL be BlamBlamBlam, Wild Words, Anime Ace, etc etc basically, stuff that doesn't really suit icons XDD

For fonts though, I would suggest you use a font guide? Just search on google "font guide livejournal" and it should bring up a couple of neat guides. Otherwise, download a couple of the fonts I mentioned above? I also love this sans serif font pack here: http://logolitic.com/40-free-sans-serif-fonts-pack-download/

Also a couple of scripty fonts like chopinscript and windsong to jazz up your text (use them only in one or two words though) also helps with the aesthetics I think.

And fff I love Basara and your icons totally captured the mood and epicness of the series :Db Great job bb!
