Ouch, that feels like a wake up call. Though they kind of need one since the one in movie wasn't quite all encompassing. Looks like Shinichi is going to get that help he needs in some way shape or form, good job Kaito.
just one thing, I came up against that "100%" and sort of ran smack into my own mind saying "Wait, what, no, that doesn't work, for one thing there are singleton abused children out there who don't have siblings and for another thing it's never 100% of anyone doing anything, bwuh?" and had to mentally insert 'close to' in front of it before I could go on. XD
To qualify the statement: the only statement I've found on the topic cited a study of less than 500 children, there was no definition of sibling abuse in what I read, and it seemed a bit redundant to say that it only applies to abused children with siblings. I left out the qualifiers so that the sentence had more impact.
Still, better to have a list that includes many-but-not-all abused children, instead of no list at all and having to go at it piecemeal like Shin'ichi and Kaito have been doing.
...I was going to object that I hadn't abused my brother, but sometimes I did things to him that would definitely have gone on the Naughty List. You do weird things to cope.
I have no idea what I did to my sister, but my memory is pretty spotty and I do recall egging her on to yell a curse word at school once. I also hit a couple of other kids in 7th grade -- one who'd been shoving around me for six weeks to talk to her friend sitting on the other side of me, and one who plopped down next to me on the bus without so much as a "hey can I sit here" and freaked me out.
I dunno that it's so much "weird things to cope" as it is just plain reacting. Close bad! Get it away!
Okay, I liked the first two parts... but this one is made of solid awesome! From the naughty list being stolen, to Jack figuring out who, to his spell to talk to Kid, to telling North why the list was stolen... it's note-perfect. ^_^ And, as always, your descriptive powers run like a movie inside my head.
