Midwife Stuff

So I only have gained 2 pounds in this pregnancy. My midwife says she likes to see at least 5, and so I should "start eating more, or doing less". Huh. I've mostly been lazing around the house ever since I went part time, so oh well. I realized I started working about 60 hours a week two winters ago, and then started to go to school plus work, and I've never developed the skill of filling up my time constructively. I'm really starting to twiddle my thumbs. (As evidenced by the fact I'm on lj again... oh, who needs to download porn when it's all here?) I need to figure something out to do, since I realized I've been used to having just a few days off here and there. I could work on those papers I have due, of course...

And when the phlebotomist took my blood, which I can't believe makes me as nervous as it does because I stick other people all day, I tried making a joke about why they never want my husband's blood. She actually started to explain it to me, and then I said, 'uh it's a joke'. It helped me to get over the stick, I guess.

My next ultrasound is next week! I am kinda interested to know what I'm having. Although will it sound bitchy if I refuse to allow people to buy me gendered stuff if it's a girl? The girl baby stuff is repulsive. I went to Babies 'R Us for a Pauline's shower this weekend, and ick. Icky ick. If it was pink and flowers, that's fine. But... ick. The boys' stuff mostly makes fun of them getting messy and has trucks. Do I want a shirt that allows my girl to think it's ok that she's a diva and has temper tantrums?
