Okay, so the situation is that this past Saturday I took Harker with me to an outing for the Ottawa Steampunk Society. Several of the people I encountered were quite interested in him and what he was, and I was more than happy to provide answers to any questions. A friend of mine also brought her doll along.
The two made such an impression that one of the daughters of the Society's organizers decided that she really wanted one. So, to help further their quest for information, I wrote up a few frequently asked questions and posted them to the group's discussion board.
Tonight I hear that it was my friend who got two messages from the Society's head organizer asking for help regarding ordering, and then to nevermind, that they'd gone ahead and ordered.
Now, I can't help but feel, as the title reads, "slightly miffed and insulted". I mean, I was the one who took on the request to write up on the dolls for the group, and honestly feel that I am more knowledgeable of the pair of us (I mean, forgive me for saying this, but most of the time she can't remember what company her doll is from, let alone what make he is / she bought him off a friend who happened to be selling / and he's a Dollzone Megi for those who might be curious).
I know it sounds petty, but this just got under my skin. I'm also not too sure about the whole ordering of a doll so whimsically like that. Well, not much I can do about it really, and hope that they get what they want. Just... geez, it makes me feel terribly insecure, as if my words are somehow meaningless.
Anyway, that was really weighing on me, so now I have to try getting some sleep. Past my bedtime and all.
