Steamy fun and busy weekend

Okay, so I have to write this out all over again because I was going to copy it from Myspace, but something odd happened and I lost the whole damn post, and now have to write it out all over again... but I wants to tell the world! Or something of the sort...

Righty, so on Friday I went to a Steampunk Movie Night. Pretty much what this was is that the administrators for the local Steampunk group here invited people over for an evening of libations and movie watching. It was quite nice, having tea and goodies; sugar cookies in the shapes of teacups and steamtrains, crackers, fudge, fresh cut fruit, jelly kranken (octopi).

We watched the first episode of this poorly done tv series called "The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne" and then the movie "Journery to the Centre of Earth" from 1959. Wow, so old. It was in technicolour and some of the things said to the women and how they acted was just... wow, seriously? We lightly heckled it, because some moments were just too good not to. Unfortunately, once the host and hostesses pre-teen daughters caught on to how people laughed when certain things were said, they seemed to try their hand at it and began to pretty much talk through the entire movie and became... quite annoying.

Still, overall it was quite nice to see what the group was like. The various age groups and costumes (not everyone was dressed up, it's not a mandatory thing).

The next day, Saturday, was the SOAP Party. I paid $5.00 to go hang out with friends. >.< And I decided to dress up, just because I could. I wore a completely different outfit from the one on Friday. That one had been primarily grey and white, while this one was beige and browns. With it, I got to wear my nice, steamy new boots, obtained delightfully cheap from Value Village. Actually, much of the outfit on Saturday were VV purchases, including the pipe I forgot at home.

I'm not sure if my outfits would be considered more steampunk or victoriana... I need to accessorize a bit better... or I could be fooling myself, as both outfits, I would in some sense be likely to wear to an office, but I could be just crazy that way.

Anyway, so things were good. Though I am now sworn off pizza for a bit, especially Pizza Pizza pizza. I've had way too much of it over the past few days, and I hate that. (there was a deal they were having, and I needed something quick to get me through the past couple of days since I knew I'd be running about)

Now today, Sunday, I went to CSTS (Can't Stop the Serenity) which was an event for basically Firefly fans. Those of us who just can't let the series die. It was again a nice bit of fun to be around people of like mindedness. There were door prizes, raffles, and auctions. I may not have won anything, but at least the money goes towards a good cause (Equality Now).

I'm such a geek though, I got a little lump in my throat by just seeing the Serenity logo come up in the start of the movie, knowing that this may be all we ever have. I also still got teary when certain characters... departed. It's silly to be so connected to what is just a TV show, but it was just great storytelling and so character driven, that it really wasn't given the chance it should have.

Anyway, I've run out of steam (heheh) from trying to write this all again, so bye for now~!
