To add insult to injury: homeless dude stole my fucking cookies. Not Geneva's cookies, not Sherman's cookies, but my expensive Newman's Ginger O's.

Ugh! I know how you feel, when betrayed by someone you didn't initially trust, then kind trusted? But then they screwed you.
A couple months ago my mom said her old friend Brian was going to come stay with us so he could get back up on his feet. Apparently he was having a ahrd time back in Washington and was like, drinking too much and addicted to meth and was in a "bad place" and my mom cared for her friends and they've known each other for years or something and he needed help.
So I helped make him a bed with some of MY spare sheets. My mom persuaded me to open a credit card to help take car of some expenses while he lived with us. And they also borrowed extra money from me to get him work-clothes for this job we'd gotten him.
Only this is what he was really doing:
-trying to break my mom and Jim up (which wouldn't have been ALL that bad) and move in on her for himself (only that would have been a major downgrade from Jim)
-buying PPV porn on our cable, the bills of which I had had to pay for because, surprise: he split one day, though I only found out about this stuff AFTER he left.
-which also left me in the red not only because the three of them (jim, my mom, and brian) maxed out the card they made me open, but also because he borrowed money that I will never see again
-telling the neighboors I'm some slutty-ho and that apparently I was "always all up ons brian) which actually made me gag when I heard that
-used the money he borrowed from me to buy drugs (no surprise there...)
-ruined my sheets with his stanky ass.

Needless to say, I have been pretty angry with my mother for a couple months seeing as how she basically treated me like some personal bank and has not paid a single credit-bill since she made me open it.

The thing is Brian wasn't a homeless buy before, but now he is... weird.
If I ever see him though, I won't harm him... just sue him for credit fraud.

Oh my fucking god! I saw your frustrated financial post some time ago, but I had no idea that this is what caused it. I would have freaked. That is too much of a limb to go out on, for anyone - your mother never should have asked that of you, if she wanted to help her friend, she should have done so with whatever means that she and only she possessed. The sheets would have been enough for me, a credit card would have caused a meltdown.

Although honestly, with your having opened the card yourself and accepting responsibility, I'm not sure a suit would get you anywhere. You might be able to hold him responsible for other debts, though.

Well when I threatened a suit, I pretty much knew I couldn't really get a good case, but it scared them pretty good.
And I did pretty much have a meltdown... I've been slowly recovering over the few weeks..
