54. C.N. Blue FTW!

Feb 05, 2010 16:03

So this is my C.N.Blue Pimping Post for Tofu b/c I adore her like that. But mainly b/c these boys filled my life with GLEE! lately. I'm gonna ignore the facts that they're all younger than me (much much younger *sob*), and just perve on them anyway b/c let's face it, I'm kinda pedo like that. After my rather embarassing crush on Hongo, I think my pedo status was set pretty much anyway.

Now, let's begin, shall we? But before I show you sparkle and pretties, let's make one thing clear.

Him?

MINE.

This one?

Also MINE. MINE. MINE

The two younger ones, I'm willing to share 8D

Since you watched "You're Beautiful", Tofu, you would already know the first guy aka. Towel Guy aka. Shinwoo. I was semi introduced to this group because my friend, Ms. L,  who's quite enamored with YAB, link me to their songs from their Japanese album because she found out he's actually in a band that is also under the same management company as FT  Island. I listened to some of the songs, was ok with them, not very impressed or anything probably b/c all the songs are in English and while somewhat more competent than your regular K-pop singers' attempt at English, still sound rather Engrish to me. One track caught my attention though and it was, "Let's go crazy."

Afterward, I promptly forget about them b/c my attention span is rather short like that.

But then.....they debutted in Korea! They started with a series of teasers which I also ignored but when the full vid came out, I listened and was like " Hey! This is quite good, yo!" Here's the PV if you're interested. But really, it's not that interesting.

What really make me sit up and pay attention to them was their first live performance on Music Bank when I get to behold Yong Hwa's powerful camera whoring on stage. Dude is hella charismatic when performing, man! So here's the performance that make me want to chase after their car.

After watching this performance, I had a sleep over with Ms. L and we started to watch YAB b/c I adore her like that and was willing to sit through a k-drama for her. That's when I get to behold Yong Hwa's "acting" or lack of acting. It blew my mind that this stiff awkward guy in the drama could be so full of life, charisma and power on stage. Seriously, Yong Hwa...the acting is really not the way for you to go, man! Stick with music, you're quite good at it.

Besides watching YAB, which I actually enjoyed ...up to ep. 5 anyway since we didn't have time to go beyond that, we (read:me) also obsessively rewatched their various live performances on the three music shows. Because remember the motto I live by, you guys? "If it's not worth doing obsessively, it's not worth doing!" =D

When I went back home, I went on a frenzy of source seeking and reading up on them. So here's the basic background:

- C.N.Blue = Code Name Blue.

- There are 4 members. One of them (the bass and youngest player - Jung Shin) joined just recently for the Korea debut. They used to have a different bass player before for their Japan one (they debutted in Japan first which is I know rather wth, right? But there's a semi good reason for that which I shall get to later), but he just kinda dissappeared. People really don't know why.

- They debutted as a sort of wandering group in Japan. They honed their skills lugging equipments around in Japan, performing on streets, getting chased by cops (more on that later), and performing in dark clubs . So not your typical K-pop background. What's also nice is that they also composed and wrote some of the songs. I know for sure that Yong Hwa did "Tear drops in the Rain." I know there are others but my brain doesn't store information that well anymore :/

And omg, I just found a clear performance of that song too! This is Jong Hyun, the other main vocal and guitarist of the group ( Yong Hwa is main vocal, rap and guitarist). I prefer Jong Hyun's voice more b/c it's deeper. Also who doesn't adore a face like this?

My adoration for him just went up after last night's performance because when the fireworks burst out, Yong Hwa got all freaked so Jong Hyung stepped in smoothly to cover the falsetto part for him. My boy is clearly made of win! ♥

- Anyway, so back to the story. They had two cds out for Japan. One is "Now or Never" and the other is "Voice." Now they have a Korean mini album out which is called " Bluetory." Except for "Loner", the other 4 tracks are from their Japan cds, just koreanfied. Which I really appreciate b/c yay! no more Engrish!

- Because they're now in the Korean market, obviously the next steps are a bunch of variety/radio shows b/c that's how the Korean works. I can't keep up with all their stuffs and I keep on forgetting to bookmark stuffs so I didn't get to watch a bunch of their subbed stuffs. But from what I watched, I recommend the following:

1. MBC Radio Show with Hongki, Yong Hwa and 2am. There's Jokwon in here so I know you will be amused, Tofu. The part that I found the most funny with Yong Hwa is this one  . But watch the whole thing, there are two eps. I think it's pretty entertaining stuff.

2. I also like their "Making the Artisit" series. They talked about their experience in Japan which was looly and Yong Hwa's fail at spelling his name is hilarious. There are two eps to this so far, and this part is my favorite. Starting around 1 min.

BONUS  (shite! Did I just figure out how to do sparkle text, y'all? Oh man! This is AWESOME! Expect more sparkling text in the future! 8D

Hopefully you're not sick of "Loner" yet because here is another performance of it! Basically this is worth watching b/c Yong Hwa had hot hair and Min Hyuk, the cute drummer kid, twirled his stick. And no, I didn't meant that to sound pervy. His drum stick, ppl! Drum stick! You gutter minded ppl!

A clip from Radio Star of Yong Hwa doing " Geek in the Pink" which is the first time I heard the song. It totally started me on a Jason Mraz loving phase.

Finally, if you didn't have time to watch the Radio Show, here's the part about Heechul and YongHwa =D

And my god, I just spent hours on this! Why do I never learn the important lesson of priority? D:

EDIT: I found more awesome

They performed "Love Revolution" on a radio show. It's one of my favorite songs on the album. I love how into it they all are, especially Jong Hyun who tend to be rather wooden on music shows. But the boy seems to like radio shows tho b/c he always rather animated on them.
