A Dream About Mom

I had a session with Sumner yesterday and spent a lot of my time on early memories of Mom. The theme seemed to be rule-making and breaking. Mom was no slouch when it came to laying down the law and one consequence was a real tension between loving her and evading her (and other surrogate mothers) whenever and wherever necessary.

I'm happy to report that Sumner and my relationship is coming along. He came over to the apartment and immediately made himself at home. He seemed genuinely interested in my kitchen renovation which is becoming a big session topic for me. He walked through it and asked good questions about what I had planned - and that was before we even sat down to have a session.

Before the night was over, however, I had a nice, vivid dream that seemed to cover the same material. In it, Mom, Sis and I seemed to be the occupants of a house that one could drive around like a truck. It wasn't like any mobil home I've ever seen. It was literally a brick Cape Cod house, complete with two stories, that one could transport on wheels from one place to another.

There may have been more than one of these things because it is not clear to me, looking back on the dream, who the house belonged to. One moment I thought it was Mom's. At another moment I thought it was mine. And, towards the end, the house seemed to belong to Sis.

What is clear, is that at some point, Mom asked me to perform a task of some sort and that I refused to do it. In fact, I did it with some heat, walking out the house (apparenty, it belonged to Mom at that point) and even adding salt to the wound by offering Mom a "tip" comprised of some dollar bills (even more remarkably, my subconscious was pretty accurate about how much money I had in my pocket before I went to bed last night) for all the housework she had done over the years.

I left Mom's house then immediately got behind the wheel of another house and started driving it. The house appeared to belong to Sis and I offered to return it as soon as I arrived at my next destination which could have been some significant distance away.
