...Made Glorious Summer!

I just want to say, this has been a freakishly good summer. The combination of making new friends (even if it was mostly in my own head) and cool, dry, weather has lifted my spirits enormously. This weekend at the summer house was a perfectly adequate capstone. Kelvin and I worked the landscaping around Aunt Delilah and Uncle Curtis' house. Kelvin has gone completely OCD in keeping it just the way it was when they were alive. I completely back him in that the house has nearly as many memories for me as it does for he and Valeria. Unfortunately, it drives his wife crazy. And, I'm not sure which piece of it twists her panties the most: the fact that he finds so much time to spend without her, or the fact that he spends it with me.

We're never really done with these projects. Kelvin will work on shovelling mulch around all the shrubbery until he runs out of daylight. Over the course of many previous summers we have worked out that my job is to feed him and watch out in case he has an accident. We had some leftover hamburger patties in Aunt Delilah's freezer (still in perfect working order after thirty years) and decided to have a little barbecue. There were four patties in all. Then we decided to invite Myra, Cousin Harvey J's widow. I had not been to the funeral, so, it seemed like a good way to catch up.

To our surprise, Cousin Myra brought a guest, a female friend, and we had to improvise the size of the patties, in case anyone wanted seconds. But, everything turned out well. The hamburgers were delicious, if I do say so myself, and only made me wish we'd made more for when dinner time rolled around. But, Kelvin determined, rightly I think, that it wouldn't make sense to leave any more leftovers in the freezer since it could be a long time before the house was open again.
