On Sex and Religion
So, the events of the last couple of weeks seem to highlight an eternal question among young Christians: Which comes first, the quest for a personal Savior or, the quest for a personal sex partner? I know from being friends with VRaptor that, at least in his case, the one seemed to inform the other. I have to believe that his ability to pray so fervently was made possible by the cold sting of lonliness nipping at his heels. I think God favors the vulnerable and the open-hearted. We should remember that He took pity on Adam in his lonliness.
At the same time, VRaptor took particular care in putting "the ability to worship together" at the top - or, nearly the top - of his list of favorable characteristics in a mate. It took a long time for him to find the right partner in LaPasionara, but, it was worth the effort. I don't think he's ever been so happy. That's not to say, that even the best laid (no pun intended) plans can't sometimes come a cropper. Pageboy and Starbuck are no longer married to each other and that break up came not so long after lecturing VRaptor on the very subject of this journal entry.
I guess the lesson here is that God loves us because we are vulnerable and because He knows that we have feet of clay. Cue the lecture on Free Will...
