Phone Call From Kelvin
Kelvin left a message on my machine yesterday while I was at work. By the time I called back he and his family were on the road, headed back to D.C..
I used the occasion to dump a lot of grief on him about Christmas at my house. But, when he told me that he'd just finished hosting a dozen people at the farm it made me feel a little ashamed. He pointed out, quite correctly, that I'm trying to take my Mom's place and that there was just no way of duplicating her. The contrast between him and me is that he was only too glad to have other people doing the cooking. Of course, the farm doesn't double as his personal space. But, the point was well-taken, about accepting help graciously.
