2 stars currently... just have to get all the coins in World 8 and I'll be done with the game 100% :D

I totally agree with your assessment of the game, the mini mushroom and blue shell are both pretty awkward to use and don't have much use aside from getting coins and opening up secret passages in a few of the levels. Not to mention, they aren't available consistently nearly enough - coming across one is usually limited to the random red ? blocks floating around on the world map. I must've replayed 1-4 about 20 times just to get the small mushrooms I needed to unlock many of the secret passages :P The other problem I have with the game is that the bosses are total pushovers. I had more of a challenge with the Super Princess Peach bosses, and that game purposely was made to have a low difficulty.

The level design really made this game, for me... each level feels really distinct to me, whether it be the level where you run on the back of the giant caterpillar, the level with the platforms shifting around the pirahna plants, some of the ice stages, or the stages where your bouncing on the mushroom platforms.

I'd love to see a New Super Mario Bros 2 next, a reimagining of SMB2USA/Doki Doki Panic.

I would love to see the same game! We're getting Yoshi's Island 2 as well, so Nintendo ought to go for some sort of trifecta here.
