Getting out and about

For the last three years I have helped organise a photo exhibibition in a small local Arts Centre - I didn't do much helping this year but did manage to squeeze four of my prints in.

From Natasha Santos...

Those of you who know John personally through the site will be wondering why he hasn't put any photos up recently...

I am really sad to say that after a diagnosis of cancer earlier this year, our much loved friend John has passed away. As is typical of John, he didnt want anyone to fuss, so told few people until the final stages and continued with his much-loved photography and spending time with loved ones. He died on Friday 22 November in hospital with good friends and family nearby. His funeral will be held next Monday 1st December in Somerset.

As a friend of his for 7 years, I have seen the developments of his work and confidence through displaying photos on live journal and his website, the positive responses and feedback all of you have given him, and I know that he would want to thank you for that, and for the very special friendships he has developed with some of you in the last couple of years... I too have loved seeing his journal as I have always been able to see what he has been up to when I have been far away. If you want to email me, my email is natashagrist@hotmail.com - I would like to know how to save these images/diary on the site so I can keep them, so if anyone can let me know, I will be really grateful. Peace to you all.

Peace to you, Natasha.

I was pointed to John's web site just today by someone who appreciated his photography and online friendship. I'm sorry I never had the honor of knowing him but am glad that his essence might live on through his art in his journal. Thank you for helping to share some of who he was with us.

Have you written to Brad Fitzpatrick yet regarding saving his images and words here? You could probably reach him best via http://www.livejournal.com/support/

Sincerely,
Seren

Oh, you're right, thanks. I just assumed she'd be checking this page. I'll email her, even though hopefully by now she has been in touch with Brad.

I heard about his passing away from Anemone58 today, and looking through his journal, I see that he was an accomplished photographer whom I would have been proud to have been acquainted with. If only I had known of him earlier, we might have been swapping pictures and tales.

My condolences to you and to the rest of John's friends and family.
