I need a life. But, I'd rather get one that's more exciting than my own. Hence, my two new-old obsessions have reared their heads. Ash (that's Ashley J. Williams to you, sunshine! :D) from the Evil Dead universe and Sam Axe from the spy action/drama Burn Notice have become my twinned happy places as of late. That fact could very well have something to do with a different, but just as awesome, fact. Both Ash and Sam are played by the same badass B-movie and frequent television actor. You may know the incomparable Bruce Campbell from other genre works, such as the wild western, The Adventures of Brisco County Jr., or the long-running, mythology-based Hercules and Xena serials.
Anyway, I thought I'd seen every last episode of Burn Notice out there, but apparently 7 seasons is a rather long time, what with 111 episodes to scour and comit to memory. But, something has piqued my interest once more. Because I don't recall this scene at all. To be fair, it's not much of a scene. And I don't know the full context of it even. There are multiple ways this could go. Either Sam Axe is nursing a hangover. (Not THAT shocking, considering how much he drinks on the show.) Or he has a (injury-induced?) headache but no ice, so he uses the next best thing: a frosty cold can of beer. (It works! I've tried it! With a can of soda though, not beer, but still...) Or he's just super-hot and staying in a place with no AC. (Miami IS hot, after all.) Regardless, he's laying down on a bed in a reddish room somwehere (Michael Westen's loft?) and he's rolling a can of something cold up and down over his forehead and wearing a blue-camo-looking t-shirt, not one of his usual rather loud Hawaiian shirts. Whatever the context, it's driving me insane not being able to place it in the show's canon.
Also, there's the fact that Sam's hair is playing tricks on me. Usually, it's mostly gray with tinges of white framing his face. But, in the shot in question, it looks almost completely brown, like how Bruce's hair used to be during the 1990s, albeit noticibly shorter (almost like a crewcut). So, does any fellow Burn Notice and/or Bruce Campbell fan know the answer to which I seek?
