...gunpowder, treason, and plot.
I was at an all time low for "patriotism" recently. Well I should say patriotism in the new sense not the old. I really held out country's government in high disdain. From the patriot act to the current war I am embarassed by the stars and stripes. I sort of became so fed up that I didn't even care anymore, throwing me in the masses of many people in this country. I figured that all politicians were the same, the current election has no one worth voting for on either side. The two political parties in the united states are merely reversible sides of the shitty jacket that has become our country.
Why vote? I lost faith with John Kerry. I remember seeing him give an impassioned speech in Washington DC where he called out congressmen for their less than admirable behavior. I remember thinking to myself that I want this man to run for president. Five years later he did run for president, and i could no longer distinguish between him or any other candidates. He groomed and manicured himself to fit into the presidential office, not to be president john kerry. I wanted to throw up red white and blue.
I really hold this country in disdain. Our foreign policy is crap, our domestic policy is crap, and the dollar is losing value quicker than a barry bonds rookie card. Yet no one seems to care, our governments solution? Print more money! yeah, great idea, because everyone knows the more you have of something the more it is worth.
One day a friend of mine sent me a link to some YouTube debates of presidential candidates, he said I had to watch them. I scoffed at him and just sort of said "yeah, yeah, yeah, politicians, all the same, whatever." Well after he bugged me a bit I watched them.
I have become aware of our countries savior and he is a republican from texas.
For those of you who are not familiar with Ron Paul (because he is blacklisted from media coverage) he is a congressman from Texas who is not afraid to actually speak the truth. He is actually trying to *gulp* bring back the Constitution. Perhaps one of the greatest and most dynamic documents ever forged by men, it has quickly fallen to the wayside of our leader's priorities.
His stance is very simple, get back to the constitution. His answer to the problems in Iraq? Withdraw, never should the united states enter a war without congress first declaring war. It is simply put in the constitution and yet no war was ever declared. Our government is blatantly throwing the constitution aside and we, the citizens do not care. We have been told it is unpatriotic to not support the war, if you are not with us you are against us, we have been fooled into believing we are fighting for freedom. This blind, chest-thumping patriotism makes me want to corkscrew my eyeballs out of my head.
Then my admiration of Ron Paul reached a new level when I was watching him on the republican debate. He had the testicular fortitude to say ""Have you ever read about the reasons they attacked us? They attack us because we've been over there. We've been bombing Iraq for 10 years,"
Finally someone said it, we were not attacked because we have freedom, we were attacked for what we have done in the middle east, for the bombings we have committed, for our presence there. That is why we were attacked. Then Rudy "I lived through 9/11 I am a hero and I am basing my whole presidency on 9/11, how ofen can I say 9/11" guiliani replies with this gem....
"That's really an extraordinary statement," said giuliani. "As someone who lived through the attack of September 11, that we invited the attack because we were attacking Iraq; I don't think I've ever heard that before and I've heard some pretty absurd explanations for September 11."
Hey rudy, you are a dumbass, first, if you had never heard that before then you have done your homework on your competitors. Second, if you truly think america was attacked because we are free then i don't want someone of your inferior intellect anywhere near the controls of nuclear weapons, I mean what is next? preemptive nuclear strikes on Iran.......oh yeah, that is next. Then rudy goes and requests Ron takes back that statement. Like some schoolyard argument about someone mother being ugly, you take that back Ron Paul. Hey doucebag giuliani go muster up some crocodile tears on camera for 9/11 to help your campaign. I loathe you and more so, I loathe the fact that you are Italian and doing this. I would rather have Paulie Walnuts as the spokesman for Italian-americans than you. Self-serving piece of shite.
Oh, did you know that Ron Paul set a record as a candidate? You didn't? that is because the media doesn't want you to know about Ron....
"Republican presidential candidate and Texas congressman Ron Paul made US electoral history yesterday with an unprecedented single-day fundraising haul. In 24 hours, 36,672 unique donors contributed over $4 million online, and over 200,000 offline, for more than $4.2 million to win the 2008 Republican presidential nomination."
Yes, he raised 4.2 million in 24 hours. Not from a few large donations, but from 236, 672 different sources. Don't you think that is news worthy?
This man is not afraid to speak the truth and he is paying for itin media coverage, but the word is gettig out that there is a candidate out there who is for the original U.S. Constitution.
He held a rally yesterday on Independence Mall here in Philadelphia, how inspiring, to sit there with the Constitution Center and the Liberty Bell, in one of the founding cities of the nation and listen to Ron Paul speak. It refilled me with a true sense of Patriotism, a true sense that THE Constitution, the United States Constitution, penned by our forefathers to make a dynamic country that will last through the ages and give life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness to all who are protected by it.
Here is a brief video I shot there. Ron talking about the us mint maybe one day printing real money.

It is not unpatriotic to voice your discontent for your government, IT IS UNPATRIOTIC TO CONDEMN YOUR CITIZENS FOR VOICING THEIR DISCONTENT WITH THE GOVERNMENT.
