I don't know how things get so busy and I fall so out of routine. Couple of things going on. Last weekend I was down in DC again, this time just visiting, although I did look at a few snakes, and yes, a dead one as well.
Friday Aqila and I drove down to Trooper's, we wanted to get there in the evening so as to have all of Saturday there as well. Traffic actually moved pretty well and I Aqila passed out in the passenger seat, mouth slightly agape sans the drool.
We got in and talked with Trooper and Ann for a bit. I have not seen Ann, Sam or John in months and it was nice to finally catch up with them.
Trooper and I did a lot of snake stuff, including sexing out some baby albino ball pythons while Aqila wrote down the data for what we found. It was pretty cool having her help out and see how things went. She is going to have to take care of the collection when I am away this summer.....needs to learn these things!!!
I am building some pedigrees for my green tree pythons. Trying to use images with the ID#'s to give people a good idea of where the animals came from so I was pouring over data cards at Trooper's getting the info I needed.
I also had to check out Trooper's albino green tree python. 1 of 2 in the country, so of course a picture with it is a must......this thing is better than meeting a celebrity.
I also needed to get some new perches for my green tree python cages so I went to the lot near Trooper's house with Aqila and cut down some bamboo and vines which I will polyurethane and put in the cages.....how about some photos of that process?
Find your target...
Cut it down...
We basically just kind of hung out and enjoyed each other's company for the Saturday. Also, what would be a visit to the Walsh's without a little music?
We left around noon on Sunday and went over to John's house in MD. His wife just got home the day before from being on assignment in Indonesia looking at nudibranch's.....does it get any cooler? Well actually yeah, she then got to go to the Komodo Dragon's native islands and see them in the wild!! She was showing us pictures and telling us about it, it was awesome.
All said and done it was a fun weekend.
Back to the grind at school. I don't want to talk about school because it has been a difficult time here. I am not sure what is going on but something is just off this whole year here. Feels a little funky, but veteran teachers are feeling it as well so it is not just me. Luckily it has been a nice week and baseball has been outside in this nice mild weather.
On a crappier note, I have all but lost hope in running the Broad Street Run. I was getting a soar back about a month ago. However I didn't think anything of it and just stretched my back muscles more. When I went on longer runs I noticed it began hurting more, it wasn't my shoes they are not that old. So I rested from the running a bit, back pain still didn't go away, it started to hurt from sitting down too long, bending over a lab table to much, sitting at my desk, it was getting worse. I kept stretching it out, but the pain was feeling more and more like it was my spine not the muscles around it. So I tried to run to see how it felt, just 3 miles. It hurt after two and when I finished I was in some pain. I took 3 advil but it didn't do anything. This last week I realized it was something more when I got some shooting pains in my back that were fairly painful. So I decided to stop the running because back pain isn't something to play with. I am going to call my doctor tomorrow and try to set up an appointment.
Now add that to my shoulder pain. It is weird, I had it last year when I was lifting weights and when I stopped over the winter it went away. Now that I am doing pushups everyday and throwing a baseball it is back with a vengeance. I can't lift my arm above my shoulder without sever pain running from shoulder to my elbow. I think this one is just overuse. Regardless I feel like I am falling apart and I am note even 30 yet! Even as I sit here my back is sore.
This sucks donkey nuts, I am almost 20 pounds lighter than I was last year at this time and had some serious goals I was looking forward to. I need to figure this out.
That and the pain is rrreeeaaalllyyyyy uncomfortable. It isn't pain that makes me buckle over, but a constant, numbing background pain that just won't go away.
