Free Range Vegetarian Egg White on Whole Wheat Extra Philosophy Sauce

I figured I would start out with a recent picture of Frogman and Tubby.  The two White's Tree Frogs that currently eat 50 crickets a week and croak at 5am in my apartment.  They are very much a pudgy slice of comedy in a long day.  I like how they seem to have grins on their faces as they sit there, that and Tubby (the hefty fellow on the right) has a triple chin going.

I have pretty much successfully kicked my sickness.  It did stagger me and daze me a bit, but it did not knock me down.  I didn't call in sick from work, however I did have to curtail the physical activity to help myself recover.  I have not worked out since Wednesday, I need to get back into it.  I think I will be going running tomorrow.  One more early night tonight with some good rest and I will be 100%  I should also have my second round of Kombucha ready to go tomorrow.  This time I am being smarter and bottling a little at a time so as to have a continuous supply.    I am convinced it works.  I don't want to be gross or give too much info, but being a biology guy and always interested in advancing the health of myself and others I will share some of my findings......

Here is my current diet....

Breakfast: 2 eggwhites on dry flax whole grain bread ( 1 slice )
Midmorning snack: 30 grams mixed nuts and raisins / 30 grams cheese
Lunch: Half a Turkey and mustard sandwhich on bran whole grain bread
Midafternoon snack: Half a turkey and mustard sandwhich on bran whole grain bread / handful of berries
Dinner: Chicken or fish cooked on Foreman Grill (drains fat) with some form of greens

I am also drinking 2-3 liters of water per day.  Now my body felt good, no real issues, however I was only going the bathroom every 2 days, even with the bran bread in there.  Well when I started drinking the Kombucha tea I noticed a few things.  I had a good amount of energy, everyone was getting sick but me, and I was going the bathroom at least once a day.  The diet didn't change, but the Kombucha was kicking my digestion and immunse system up a few notches.

So 2 weeks ago I ran out of Kombucha, my energy level not so good (even cranky), I get sick, and I was back to going the bathroom every 2 days.  All this even while drinking coffee everyday.  So now I will be going back on the Kombucha and I cannot wait.  This batch should be great, I used Dragon Pearl Tea which tastes really good, its light, ferments on the sweeter side.  I bottled 6 last night and they should be carbonated by Wednesday the latest.  I also have a second brew that will be ready for bottling any day (just trying to get the pH to drop below 3) and I started a third batch.  My SCOBYS are growing so quickly that I have 3 in each container.  I need to store some but I have to buy preserve jars.  If anyone wants a SCOBY or two let me know!

I went to a funeral this morning for the father of a fellow teacher and the man I coach baseball with here.  The death was not sudden and in fact his father was in hospice care for a few months and they had a few days notice that he was reaching his end.  A few teachers and some students came.  The family is very catholic and the funeral was in fact a catholic mass.  I was amazed at how imbedded those masses are in my head.  Without even thinking I would reply at the appropriate time, stand, sit, and kneel at the right times.  As I was sitting there I was looking around and listening to the mass and I realized that the catholic religion is a wonderful religion, however it is ruined by the catholic people.  If you take away the politics, the "either you are a catholic or a heathen", and the overzealous nuts who cram their beliefs down your throat, then you got yourself a nice little religion.

Now this isn't completely the first time I realized this, but it really hit home today.  I love the "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" is a wonderful thought process and one I am trying more and more to live by.  The teachings of Jesus are wonderful messages that anyone could utilize in their daily life.  Now am I saying that I am going to become a Born Again Christian?  HELL NO!!!  What I am saying is that man has ruined a beautiful religion by attaching all these laws and rules that make you a "good" catholic.   They set the standard by giving you a priest, a man who must abstain from natural wants and needs, then they tell young people they are heathens for having impure thoughts about the opposite sex, I cannot stand for that.    But if we get through all that and get to the root of what Jesus was saying......damn, that is some good stuff.

The problem I have with Catholics is that they live by a religion that preaches acceptance and forgiveness.........but only if you are like them.  I mean how can you be a Catholic and hate gay people?  Shouldn't you be accepting of them?  Even if you believe it is wrong you should be thinking "I don't agree with their lifestyle but I will accept who they are and pray for them."  However they are treated with hatred and malice and outed from their religion.   If you are a Catholic then you should be filled with love for your fellow man.  Beause you know that no matter what other people do and think, if you treat them right and follow the teachings of Jesus then you will have a spot in his kingdom.

I wonder how Jesus would feel if he met a gay man, would he cast hatred upon him or turn his back on him?  I don't think so.  I think that the harshness of the Roman Catholic church really turns a lot of young people off from the teaching of Christ.  It puts a bad taste in their mouth that is a constant association with the catholic religion.  I know that is what happend to me.  If the nuns were more accepting to my questions about science and evolution, my need as an 11 year old around me to question my environment.  If they didn't punish me for laughing or fidgeting, for saying ".....but I heard we evolved from other animals.", then maybe I could have grown up with a better love for my religion.  People always say practice what you preach, and nothing turns people off more than a hypocrite, well the Catholic Church is one of the biggest hypocrites in the world and they are causing a de-faithing of the masses.

I must throw in a disclaimer, not all Catholics are like this.  There are many that are accepting of people and do not spout hatred, for example my Nana is a wonderful Catholic and should be the standard by which all Catholics aspire toward.  She has unconditional faith, she is patient, she never utters and unkind or hateful word to her fellow humans, and she exudes love.  However she is unique.  Unfortunately it is not this kind of Catholic that is on the news or in the public eye.

I find myself wishing I could have been given a book with the statement: Here is one way to try and live your life, they are the teachings of a man named Jesus Christ.  An individual who lived in the Middle East some 2000 years ago.

I think I would have read that book and taken away a lot of what was said.  However I was preached at, told I was born with sin on my soul from two supernatural beings that were created.  Through a long line of miracles and impossible acts I  came to be.  However you are a bad person and you must live everyday making up for that by following the rules of God, if you don't you will burn and suffer eternal damnation in hell.  Yeah, that sounds real appealing.
