OK, so I have not been keeping this up as methodically and periodically as I should, but being as busy I am in the library in the evenings with the yearbook and all it is to be expected. My days are going into to full tilt no free time routine now that I have to officially start my training for Broad Street Run. No more just running because I want to get in shape, now I have a purpose. Tonight for the first time I go to Kelly drive, the 8 mile loop I used to train on last year that starts at the Art Museum and ends at the Art Museum. Tonight I will only do 3 miles. Only after I complete the 8 mile loop and run up the art museum steps will I allow myself to throw my arms up in triumph a la Rocky Balboa.
For now I will slowly plod along in my untuned organic machine. But I know that each mile run, and each cold night I fight through will bring that organic machine one step closer to breaking 90 minutes in the 10 mile Broad Street Run.
The weekend was good, although I didn't like watching the Patriots lose, but it is what it is and thats that. On a good note a lot of my sick snakes have gotten better. Most are eating now and on the healthy road to recovery. It will be slow and I can't breed them yet, I have to be sure of their health before I push them into breeding, but feeding snakes are happy snakes.
This is a happy snake waiting for food. Neck is in hunting "S" position which means she is hungry. I love it!
This next guy was literally on death's door but he has made a remarkable recovery. He is shed in this picture and still in the hunting position! He has already eaten 4 mice for me in the past 2 weeks. I can't wait to breed him to a lucky female.
Now the other problem is that I need to buy all new rodents. I suspect the ones I had before were harboring a bacteria that made my snakes sick. Now I have to pay premium for lab raised clean rodents. However at least I will have the knowledge that they will be getting the best quality food. However I think my snake food will be costing more than my own per month!
Alright, I need to run and do my budget requests for next school year. I am trying to make our principal understand that if you want to run a hands on performance based science class you are going to have spend some serious cash for supplies.
