La Jarretiere Verte had not been open for more than an hour when John dropped in for a visit. He was immediately greeted by a few folk that recognized him and received smiles from those who did not know him but sensed he was a gentleman of some importance among his friends. He had decided to dress his finest tonight to add to his commanding presence. Waving off an offer to be seated, John ordered a scotch from the bar and took his drink to the familiar gambling room where he stood in the doorway. As John watched with delight at the many faces, both familiar and new, he made mental notes of who might be interested in his next scheduled evening of private gambling and fight betting sponsored by the family business.
