I had a very good and relatively eventful day yesterday, but I couldn't write about it because LJ was down. Oh well. These things happen. It's back up now, so here's the story of yesterday...
My parents had to get up early in the morning to go spend the day with my brother in LA.
Kokeshikitten and I got up earlier than usual too (earlier than usual for ME, at least) and finaly used the bowling alley gift card my brother gave up for Christmas over a year ago. It's been at least a year and a half since we last went bowling, and I was expecting us to be terrible, but surprisingly, we weren't. In fact, Kokeshikitten bowled over 100 her first game, which is something we both struggled to do even when were in practice.
After that, we decided to take advantage of the fact that my folks were gone and use their big screen TV and surround sound, so we stopped by her house and got a couple DVDs to watch, Björk's live concert, and Peter Gabriel's music video collection. The Björk concert sounded awsome in surround, but unfortunatly, the Peter Gabriel didn't. I had a surround sound option, but for some reason, it used different mixes of some of the songs, with a bunch of instruments missing or something, so we switched it back to normal stereo.
Next, we went out for sushi, for lunch. We're both major wusses when it comes to sushi. We both steer clear of raw fish and anything exotic, prefering vegitarian rolls and California rolls, which we love.
Finaly, we went to see Phantom of the Opera. I though it worked better on stage (I saw it once, years ago) but overall, the movie was pretty good. I did have a few minor gripes though.
My main problem was that the phantom was not ugly enough. They waited to reveal his face until almost the end of the movie but it wasn't even all that bad. Just kind of lumpy and discolored, not nearly bad enough to make it believable that his mother abandoned him, or that he was the star atraction of a freak show. I mean, seriously, some of the extras were uglier.
Then we came back to my place and just relaxed for the rest of the evening. My parents were home by that time. I had a very good time with Kokeshikitten, though the day did tire me out a bit. Today so far, I've been taking it easy and working on some art and writing.
