Trains companies are the ultimate fucking bastards

Apr 23, 2007 19:34

As you are all aware, the train companies have hiked up their prices. What you are probable not aware of is how they fucked me over, let me explain.

I was catching the train to birmingham international in order to get to work, I was running late and the ticket machines were all acting up as per usual, resulting in me legging it to catch the train, nearly getting cut up in the doors as I jumped on. I did not have a ticket, but I wasn't worried as I went to get one from the conductor. Serves me right for being honest I suppose, but instead of a ticket I get a penalty fare of £20. Get the chance to appeal though, they said. Shame you can only appeal 9 till 4 monday to friday, during which time I am working myself. Oh well, I thought, I'll get it sorted. Except that they then sent a reminder, adding another TWENTY POUNDS administration fees on top! And telling me I can no longer appeal. Bloody hell, I think, better try and get this sorted. Except that barely a week later I get another letter, a final reminder telling me that I had 'one final chance' to pay it off, plus ANOTHER TWENTY FIVE POUNDS administration fees! I'm sorry, but since when did sending a letter cost £20 let alone £25? I have finally managed to start appealing against this, but I doubt I will be able to avoid having this money extorted from me. The really galling thing is that I have no choice about catching the trains, they can keep on ripping me off and I will have to still keep on giving them money in order to get to work. Captive customer, and they know it, which is why they will keep on hiking up the prices in order to rip off the passengers, without improving anything in return because they know the customer wouldn't be there if they had a choice.

So, overall, I am incredible pissed off. But the weekend before last was great, got to see loads of people I haven't seen in ages, Steph and Nick, who are immensely pregnant it seems, not sure may she had just ate a beach ball or something. :P Stu and Trudy, who I stayed over with for the weekend, Ian and Sam, who I need to say hello to again, and a flash visit from Alex and Sarah, who I can't remember the last time I spoke to it was so long ago, and who I will have to call to get back into proper contact with them.

Also, did Maelstrom the weekend before that, was the usual great fun.

Hmm, gotta go now, gotta give the train station the evil eye.
