Of course this applies to everyone. All of us are are in need of God's healing love. That doesn't mean we've always applied this as well as we should. Personally the issues of solidarity and preferential option for the poor always hit home since we live in such abundance. The simpler you make your life the easier it is to give things away.

The Social Doctrine can not be at odds with the Moral Doctrine. Establishing the dignity of the human person as we understand it more and more deeply is the first principal from which the others flow. The foundation of human dignity is living in a relationship with God and each other. The Moral Law is the means of that right relationship so it must always attended to first.
